Hard-snow performance with a women's-specific tune is what the Volkl Mantra 88 W is all about. This all-mountain ski delivers exceptional edge grip and rebound for its width, backed by a poplar and beech wood core, full titanal, and the three-piece titanal frame that defines the Mantra family's grippy, energetic character.

Why we like it:

The combination of grip and rebound is addictive, lay this ski on edge and it springs you out of every turn. The flatter, turn-ready shape makes those clean arcs feel natural rather than forced.

Who it's for:

Advanced and expert women skiers who want a powerful, grippy ski with a frontside bias. Best suited to confident skiers with strong technique who like to ski with intent on firm and variable snow.

Highlights:

The Mantra 88 W shares the family's serious build: a multi-layer poplar and beech wood core that loads beech toward the edges for power, a full sheet of titanal beneath, and the three-piece Tailored Titanal Frame above for damping, grip, and natural flex. Tailored carbon tips keep the swing weight manageable and sharpen the entry phase. The narrower shape calls for the 3D Radius Sidecut instead of the 4 Radius Drive, splitting a long tip radius, a slalom-tight center, and an open tail for crisp, rounded turns. A flatter overall profile and long tip and tail rocker keep more edge engaged for a smooth, predictable feel.

Things to consider:

This is a stiff, demanding ski that wants an active skier on top of it. It's not the easiest choice for someone still building technique, and its off-trail performance asks for effort. Skiers who prioritize playfulness or float should look elsewhere in the line.

Fit & sizing considerations:

Sizes true to length. Stick with your usual size, or size down for quicker, crisper carving with a small tradeoff at speed.
